Along the Yangtze: A glimpse of life on China’s longest river - CNN.com
Captivating photo essay by Nadav Kander. I love the mood he creates and the juxtopositions of nature and human/human-made.

    LAX (circa 2003)
In hindsight, I suppose I’ve always been fascinated with airports. Which explains a lot now.

    Sproul 538
Even further back: end of freshman year of college, June 2004. I can still hear the jackhammers pounding at the lobby of Sproul Hall, waking me up just in time for my 8am Econ 1 class. Nostalgia abounds.
Notice how clean our floor was. That’s because no shoes were allowed past the door. Cause my roomie and I were Asian like that.

    Fil-Ams Gone Wild
Let’s go even further back down memory lane: Philippine Studies Program 2006. Letting 25 Fil-Ams loose in Manila — perhaps not the brightest idea, U.P.
I kid. (But really, watch out for those Fil-Ams. They’re ridiculous.)

    Departures | LAX
I’ve been thinking about the US a lot lately. No reason, really. Just reminiscing. And even though words can’t describe how much I miss my family and friends, I really can’t complain. My life is at a different, but overall good, place right now.

jacx:

Try closing your eyes just a little bit, looking through your eyelashes.
I’m going blind! =))

it took me a long time to get it. what does that mean?! lol

So what does it mean if you can read it perfectly the first time around? Not that I would know. Um, I mean, I’m asking for a friend.

My name is Justin & I live in a constant state of cultural dissonance. I was born, raised, & educated in LA; spent a semester "studying" in Singapore; and recently completed a Princeton in Asia fellowship in Manila. I'm still in the process of figuring out my next destination.
